Sony Ericsson [T630] or [K500] ?

Recommended Posts

I went to a shop with a friend today and we took a closer look at a few mobile phones such as the

"Sony Ericsson T630" and the "Sony Ericsson K500".

They are both great phones and the prices for them are pretty low too. :)

But there are heavy differences between them.

* The T630 has bluetooth and a better design (in my opinion), but it has only 2 MB of shared memory and can't play mp3s and you can't record videos with the CIF camera. The maximum resolution of the pictures taken with the T630 is 352 x 288 pixels .

when my dad upgrades in november i get his t630, I think the T610 looks so much nicer... Its the only phone that I think looks great in every way.. Oh yeah back to the topic... I would get the K500 but I bet it costs alot more. The question is... Do you need all those features?

I'd get the K500. It looks really nice.

I myself have an S700i and couldn't be happier, although it could use a firmware update.

Can you update the fimrware of SE phones by yourself or do you have to bring it to a service center ?

my friend has the t630...its not that great

take the k500 u will learn to love the design ^^

No, the T630 and the K500 cost the same.

Yes, I need all the features.

One of my classmates got a k500 recently. It's a very good phone.

It hasn't got bluetooth but she can live with that. I could send everything to that phone from my N3660 and vice versa.

I've seen the t630 too and it makes really crap pictures and you can't do anything with 2mbs of ram.

i would really love to get the K500. it has everything the T630 would have except that it doesn't have bluetooth like its predecessor the T610, and its elder brother the K700.

imo, if you cant live with bluetooth, take the T630. if you can, and take the K500.

I'd get the K500, I had the T610 and didn't use bleutooth much, only to transfer some files from the pc to the phone, but the K500 has an USB port, so that's faster then bluetooth.

playing full mp3songs with 12MB is useless, but it's nice for some mp3ringtones.

the phone has infrared, so you can use that to transfer files to another phone.

go for the K500, I think features are more important then looks.

Thank you for your replys. It looks like K500 is the winner

BUT, I came across a prepaid offer where you get the Sony Ericsson K700i for like $ 180

[sony Ericsson K700i]

Sounds good to me.I might get it, just have to convince my mom :D

What do you guys think about that ? In my opinion, the K700i is at least twice (or even three times) as good as the K500.

*sorry for double posting

The k700 is awesome

You can't expand it's memory, but ~40mbs of internal memory should be enough

Ya, should be enough.People say that you can fit like 20 mp3 songs in 64 kbps bitrate and the sound quality is very good I've heard.

The K700 is great. I've had mine for almost a year now, and it aint many things I can complain about.. Sure, if you compare to the topmodels of -today-, it's in the dark...

But hey, it's packed with great features and the prices are low as well now.

I say buy the K700 if you need the extra features the K500 doesn't have.

    • I'm not aware of this issue, but to help the other guys.  What version of Android are you using? Did you try a different browser? To see if Edge is the issue here.
    • I agree when are you going to read this (really poor BTW) article? Here is a better article so you actually know what is going on and answers questions you had in other comments --> https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2026/05/speed-boosting-low-latency-profile-is-one-of-the-improvements-coming-to-windows-11/ It is unclear if one will be able to disable the new profile at this point but I am not seeing any reason why one would.
    • I disagree; they come off very "bitchy" and "whiny". Make a great product and combine that with a great price (free) and people will come over to your side. Or build it and they will come as they say. Constantly trying to get attention by complaining all the time, will turn people off to your product.
    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.
