Need Headphones for Ipod

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a 4th Gen 20 gig IPod, but as most know, the included headphones arent exactly top notch :x

What I'm looking for is the BEST pair of headphones for under $50 or around there. I'd like them to have the best bass reproduction as possible, yet at the same time, also be as small and portable as possible.

I'd love to use my headphones I use for my computer, but their kinda big, and they have a mic attached...Altec Lansing AHS-502's they have the best bass response I've ever heard in a sub 40 dollar pair of headphones..

I'd love it if someone could point me in the right direction, thanks!

I wholeheartedly recommend the Sony MDR-EX71SL (if you have an iPod remote, because the cord is either really short, or really long with the included extension cable) or the Sony MDR-EX51LP which have a normal length cable but don't come in white, they are basically the same earphones apart from the colour and cable length.

i don't know why everyone thinks the packaged headphones are crap. At first i did, the left one would have al ittle distortion...i pushed in the head of it a little...and just worked it in and about after a week you could put them full blast and no distortion. Just thought i'd let you all know i think that the headphones included are really good quality.

brandon, you might think that they are good quality, until you hear good quality. I used to use crappy $5 speakers for my computer, and I thought they were good enough. Then I bought some Logitech Z-640s and I thought they were awesome. Now I have some Sennheisser PX100s for my MP3 player and I can't listen to music out of any other speakers that are below them. It just doesn't sound good anymore. I am sure that if I bought some really expensive headphones, I wouldn't be able to listen to these any more.

Until you listen through better headphones, you will not see how badly the Apple ones truely suck.

If you don't mind them being a little bigger than buds, I wholeheartedly reccomend Sennheiser PX100s. Sound really great, only problem is that if there isn't a lot of ambient noise, everyone else tends to hear your music too and very rarely do they enjoy it.

I second that. I got the MDR-EX51LP for my iPod 4G and the sound quality is superb!
