Sub-Forums under the name

Question

Hello everyone. I am from Tallarico.com where I am an administrator. We are currently making some small tweaks and changes, and one of the things I am having trouble with, is figuring out how to get the a forum to list the sub-forums under the name of the forum.

You can see the perfect example in this picture. I really need help doing this to make the web-site flow more naturual.

Here is a picture of an example.

From the looks of it.. I can safely assume your using 1.3 or 1.3.1 or lower..

in that case..

If I'm reading this right.. you want to put links to the sub-forums in the forum display thing like it automatically does in 2.0 right ?

if so.. you'll have to hard mod it in the forum descriptions manually. as in 1.3.x or lower.. it doesnt do that for you..

it however does that for you in 2.0.x :)

well.. it should tell you at the bottom of the each page of ur forum..

like what they have here

Invision Power Board  v2.0.4 ? 2005  IPS, Inc.

:pp

besides.. if u currently dont have a licence.. you need to pay for a licence so u can upgrade to the latest version..

Yeah I wil talk to Tommy about upgrading this weekend, good thing I'm not the one paying :D

---------------

In the meantime, is there a way I can change all the links of the sub forums that I am adding in there manually to a different color, like gray?

This is all of the HTML that I am currently ussing to add those cheap sub-links, until we can upgrade of software. I need to find a way to make the links look different from the links around it so it isnt so ugly and bland.

Yeah, what is the update process like? That is the only thing that scares me.

1.2 to 2.* skinning has changed alot, that's for one.

But the upgrade to 2.* should be smooth.

The way the upgrader works is that it updates to every version along the way, like for example, your upgrade would go like:

1.2 > 1.3 > 1.3.1 > 2.0.0 > 2.0.1 > 2.0.2 > 2.0.3 > 2.0.4

I think at least, i've never done a upgrade from 1.2 to 2.0.4, but based on my other experience, that's the basic idea of what the upgrader does.

All your posts, topics, members should remain safe. I doubt anything other than skinning will go wrong.

HTH. :)

I see they give us the option of letting them upgrade our message boards, if we pay them to do it wil they promise to have everything in tact?

Ah right, forgot to mention that. They will make sure that the upgrade goes as smoothly as possible. But I think the skinning is left up to you, correct me if I'm wrong; i've never had IPS upgrade my forums for me.

A good idea would be to import the skin onto a test forum and then smooth everything out and then when you upgrade your forum to the latest version, you'll be all set already. ;)

if IPS upgrades for you.. they will only upgrade the forum software and use their default skin.

as anything from 2.0.0PF4 or eariler skins wont work on 2.0.4 they wont upgrade it for you. and thats left for you to do.. but IIRC you can pay them extra to upgrade the skin as well.

but it would prolly cost big bucks to do so :p

the upgrade should go smooth.. afterall its IPS tech staff that has the most experience in doing stuff like these.. :p

    • I disagree; they come off very "bitchy" and "whiny". Make a great product and combine that with a great price (free) and people will come over to your side. Or build it and they will come as they say. Constantly trying to get attention by complaining all the time, will turn people off to your product.
    • It use to be a nightmare, with LibreOffice supporting a newer draft ODF standard by default, and Microsoft Office supporting the older non-draft standard. Now that they both support the same version of ODF, they should be interoperable.
    • Brave Browser 1.91.171 by Razvan Serea Brave Browser is a lightning-fast, secure web browser that stands out from the competition with its focus on privacy, security, and speed. With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package. • Hi. As the title suggests, I can't access the forum on my phone. I'm using Edge on Android and when I try to navigate to the forum I get a "we value your privacy" popup and none of the buttons are clickable. It effectively stonewalls me from reading any forum content.
    • Honestly you're not wrong about AdGuard. Neowin frequently has lifetime license discounts for them and that's how I got my cheap family license a few years ago to run it on all my devices.
