Question from a New Apple Owner

So, I just got my Power Mac G5 on Tuesday; absolutely amazing. I knew that I loved OS X, but this has just taken the cake. I don't think I've ever made a purchase this big and been this happy with it. :)

I was curious; do others find that the hard drive in the Apple Power Macs are kinda loud? The computer is absolutely whisper quiet - truly amazing! The hard drive is a bit loud, though.

Just wondering what others though. 'tis my observation for the night. :)

well I suppose during the night its more likely you will hear the hard drive at its loudest. I guess its like every other computer. My windows computer which I sometimes run at the same time as my PBook is very loud. On the other hand the powerbook is whisper quitet I love it....

I have to admit when I did use the Powermax G5 at Pcworld is was very quiet, maybe you were using hard drive intensive software or doing something which requires the usage of it.

By loud I assume you mean the hard drive clicking noise which seems to be amplified by the metal case, if so then yes I've experienced this with every PM.

Yeah, it's pretty loud. Guess I got used to the PowerBook being silent... and don't get me started on the optical drive... holy crap... I panicked when I first put a disc in there!

LMAO!...I agree with Bling...I though it was gonna blow...:laugh:...but than the CD just pop out again saying it finished...and I was just like...oh....and walked away...:laugh:
