Joy riding this morning

Recommended Posts

This morning myself and 4 other guys decided to go to McDonald's at about 7:30 am and race the 10 miles back to school in our cars/trucks. The roads were wet, with a little rain coming down. It was about 50f degrees out. The vehicles were:

Me in my '93 Dodge Dakota 4x4, 3.9L V-6. Straight pipes back, louder than the other trucks combined. Stick shift ;)

My buddy Dave in his '95 Chevy Blazer, 4.3L, V-6.

My friend Jay in his '92 Chevy Caviler, 4cyclinder engine.

Nick in a '94 Chevy 2500HD, 4.3L V-6.

Josh in a '92 Dodge Dakota 3.9L V-6, auto tranny :p

These guys are smarter than they look, they left me in the parking lot because I was refilling my drink. I missed the entire race home, but just caught up to them when they entered a gas station by our school. I guess what happened was Dave won, Nick 2nd, Josh 3rd with his truck burning oil  and Jay got lost or something. With us all parked in the parking lot we talked and I flipped them all the bird too :p

Then my girlyfriend pulled in with two other chicks, and I hit my head on the window when talking to her, because the guys thought it would be fun to lift her little Honda off the ground with my head in the window. :pinch:

I led leaving the gas station doing a little burn-out, followed by three more burn-outs behind me. I pulled off about a 1/8th of a mile down the road because I didn't know where they wanted to go. So now I'm sitting 4th behind all of them. We come up to a right hand turn, but right before the right hand turn was a dirt parking lot. It was basicly a quick short cut. Dave turned on it got a little sideways to get the led. I turned on it got extremely sideways but never lost it and pulled out in third. We then all went drifting threw the next two turns, but trouble came around the corner.

A cop coming down the road. He didn't see the first three guys spin around the turn, but he saw Josh in his pokey driving. Josh got pulled over, got a ticket for no seat belt, and a warning for wreckless driving. While the rest of us just cruised  to school.

I don't know why he didn't have his seatbelt on. That's the first thing I do. Mainly from watching people in Nascar get hurt, sure they go faster, but they have helmets, at least a 5-point seatbelt system a rollcage and everything. Makes me almost want to wear a helmet when I drive just incase.

Well just felt like sharing that story, cause I'm bored lol.

The way you are describing things sounds a hell of a lot like you really didn't consider the roads/drivers first. So irresponsible still stands in my opinion.

I ain't got beef or anything, because I know I did it a few times. But now I look back and realise how idiotic it was.

However... we do have a small ruleset that's specific to this section of the site.

The following will not be allowed in The Neobahn

    * Street racing material... If a thread has a discussion on the actual act of racing or includes videos/photos of illegal races, then it will be closed. This includes if Billy Bob wants to post how he raced on Main Street two days ago. If it simply discusses the sport or how to modify a car, or if car A will beat car B, then it will be allowed. We will allow mature discussion on the topic, but nothing more.

    * Please don't flame and troll a persons vehicle or car preference... you can discuss what you don't like about a car or what should be changed... but don't go out right trolling saying "Your modded Honda Civic is teh sux0r!!1111". Or, "Your car is the ugliest piece of crap I've ever seen".

    * Obviously... The Neobahn follows the Community Rules. Please follow them. Failure to comply with the Community Rules will result in warns and/or restrictions.

Thread closed coming soon to a thread near you. BTW, you can thank me for those great rules! Street racing or any facet of foul play on public roads with cars around or not is simply immature and wreckless.

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • Close, but it is for any application starting, not just during boot time. In fact, it probably will not improve boot time at all because during a boot, the CPU is already boosting, so a pre-boost wouldn't change anything. I agree that it isn't exciting (especially considering every other OS already does it), but it is a good thing, even if they are just playing catch up.
    • Any so called performance increase will be in milliseconds, which nobody will actually notice in real world usage.
    • All it does is use the CPU more efficiently during boot to speed up boot times. That's it. Yawn....
    • It's not a one or the other kind of thing. Software should run efficiently, and the operating system should appropriately manage the CPU clocks. You could have the best most optimized software on earth, and it will still run faster if the CPU does a better job of boosting as needed. All this is doing is pre-boosting the CPU based on user actions, instead of waiting for the normal detection mechanism to kick in. If the OS knows it is about to need more CPU, why shouldn't it use that knowledge? It's the same idea of downshifting before passing someone, instead of just burying your foot into the peddle and waiting for the transmission to figure out what you want to do.
