Yea, Maxthon seems to be better than firefox and everything else I have tried. In the year and a half that I have been using it, it has crashed twice and those were my faults...

if any browser has only crashed 2 times in 1 1/2 years, you're not using it enough.

ie crashes about 3 times a day on neowin, threads it doesn't like crash it, hence maxthon would crash, firefox runs too slow on these computers for me to use it, therefore this computer sucks. it depends on the computer and the user more than the browser.

There might be something wrong with you machine. I have had maybe 5 crashes of IE/maxthon in 1 year. I spend 6 hours+ a day on the internet and atleast 6 days a week. Never had a crash on Neowin.

Maxthon is great, with some minor issues, (like if open, it may grab hyperlinks and it might not).

use it as a backup browser. main browser is firefox for me.

however i never ever had a browser crash for me on neowin. not ie based not any other.

in fact the only time browser crashes is when i kinda expect it to happn anyways, due to opening multiple attachements and going on loaded flash website at the same time.

nothing messes it up more then openeing a few pdfs, mp3s, and varity of flash with music at the same time.

I used to use it, up until the Opera 8 beta came out...

I still use it as my IE based browser, to check that my webpage still looks good and for other stuff where Opera doesn't work (stupid non-compliant HTML...).

It is a very good browser. It gives users the feel of tabbed browsing and all the extra features, without straying too far from the familiar IE. You still need to immunize your system with SpywareBlaster and Spybot (and a HOSTS file) to be safer from spyware though. Maxthon is a notch up from IE, but it's still fairly vulnerable.

Quick answer - 4.5/5

yep, if someone get 3 crashes a day on Neowin, that's definitely not Maxthon's fault, actually, i have been using this since MYIE time and got less than 20 crashes in the past two or three years.

Maxthon is far surpassing firefox or Opear, they just worth backup in front of Maxthon, and another stable browser i have been using is Avant, both of Maxthon and Avant are award-winning browsers from PC World

I think it is very hard to switch to FF for the one who has used Maxthon(myie) for years, especially after he/she frequently used some advance features such as super drag or mouse gesture. It is true that FF is not that convenient for Maxthon users because the extensions neglect something they are used to, though the FF group doesn't develop the extension. I hope one day Maxthon could let user choose which engine to use or there was a new shell for FF, that would be very nice. :p

p.s.I am always wondering what does the "use Gecko" do in Maxthon.

I use maxathon at work because the pages we use only work with ie6, so i can't use firefox. It is a nice browser and works well for what i use it for. I also have it installed on my computer at home. I had avant, but it liked to take over my computer, so i uninstalled it and installed maxthon.

Very good advancement for IE..

    • Just the price of doing business. The scamble to pull as much from the web as possible is happening, and it's happening before a case like this changes how or what is legal do to with AI in terms of data harvesting. But even then as we've seen with the likes of Google who ignore cookie requests and just accept the fact they'll get fined, it's built into their business price model now. AI is here, its not going away. Their reward if any from the court case would be best suited to trying to incorprate AI or licence their end points as authentic human verified content. The problem is, as we've seen these same news papers are using AI themselves.

    • This Chinese company is reportedly developing a feature Apple and Samsung can only dream of by Hamid Ganji While companies like Apple and Samsung have been relatively conservative with their devices’ battery capacities in recent years, Chinese manufacturers have taken the competition to the next level by introducing significantly larger batteries. However, the latest report from China suggests that a local company may already be developing a smartphone with a whopping 14,000mAh battery. Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station claimed on Weibo that a smartphone maker is developing a device with a 14,000mAh battery. If true, it would be the largest battery ever used in a smartphone and could, in theory, provide up to a week of battery life on a single charge. The leaker did not reveal the name of the company behind the device, but there are some clues. This week, HONOR unveiled the X80 Pro Max in China with an 11,000mAh battery and 90W wired charging support. The company also launched the Honor Win in January, which packs a 10,000mAh battery. HONOR, a former subsidiary of Huawei, has a proven track record of developing smartphones with unusually large batteries. However, other Chinese brands, including Xiaomi, have also launched devices such as the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max with 7,500mAh batteries. Though Chinese users on Weibo also believe the company behind the new battery is HONOR. Interestingly, Digital Chat Station said the device with the 14,000mAh battery weighs around 220 grams, making it lighter than the Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max (233 grams) and slightly heavier than the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra (214 grams). The iPhone 17 Pro Max currently packs a 5,088mAh battery in eSIM-only versions, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra features a 5,000mAh battery. Neither device is expected to see a dramatic increase in battery capacity in its next-generation successor. So when it comes to battery comparison, Chinese brands are unbeaten. HONOR smartphones are currently available in the EU, but the Chinese brand has no official presence in the United States due to restrictions imposed by the U.S. government.
