I just started playing around with this image of a crab and this is what I got when I finished

Desaturation just lost detail.

So I did an inverted and then added some color overlays to match the mercury colors and I added some background along with alot of sharpening on the crab. THIS is by no mean finished, I still can't get the right glass look.
