Google updated?

If u go to google now, u'll see an extra bar to the right of the searching bar, which allows u to choose which category to search.

I swear I've never seen it there before...

I haven't seen the drop down menu but I've seen a navigation panel with links to other Google services on the left side of the browser (Firefox).

They're probably trying to improve upon the site's usability.

Woah! Those are gone!
Oh yeah. I just noticed.

They can make it only avaliable to you (and a select others) by only letting users with an IP of say, 123.456.78.* access it, so they can test how people react to it, and what happends.

If all goes well, they will open it up to 123.456.*, and eventually, that will be the new Google page for everyone :D

That, or you just installed Photoshop ;)

google often trial different pages for different ip ranges of people, to quote from some source i read

"if 5% of people use the feature it is put into the 'advanced search' preferences

if 20% of people use the feature, it becomes an option on the main page"

although i dont know what they will do in this case....

I went to my usual Google page (Australia) and it wasn't there but then I clicked on "Go to Google.com" and there it is. Interesting idea, however I'll continue to use the search bar in Firefox just because it's more convenient.
