MSN Live Messenger slow transfer rate ...

I am experiencing very slow transfer rate with my new WLM.

Previously it was much faster with older version. Did MSN set a new port for file transfer or am I the only one experiecing this problem?

for me MSN/\wlm has always suck for file transfers

yeah, it always gives me that message at the top of the window that the transfer rate is really slow even though my speed hits 150kbps :s

mine is raelly SLOW. it took me like 45 mins?! To send a 3MB file!

I could have just upload it somewhere like yousendit.com and tell my friend the link. so much faster.

I just did my first transfer tonight.. And you guys are right.. it is extremely slow

I peak at about 30kb/sec when uploading normally to servers and stuff but over wlm i peak at about 10kb/sec.

I find that it takes ages for the person I am sending it to, to accept the file.

Almost feels like Microsoft is checking the file before I send it :s

I dunno, I find that it varies depending on who you're sending it to. Most contacts on mine (I find shared folders are faster) go really quickly, but some go at about 20 - 25 kb/s. Kinda annoying I know.

If u use MSN to transfer files to Windows Messenger, U will find the speed is so fast......

So....If u want share files to others ,u should ask them to use Windows Messenger.....

I'm experiencing deathly slow transfers on WLM too. Like 1MB every 10 minutes, on a 10Mbps connection. Perhaps it has something to do with both ppl being firewalled, and there is a glitch in the WLM code.

What's worse, there is a InfoBar saying "Click here if your transfer is slow" that takes you to some generic unrelated Windows Live help page. Bad user experience there, Microsoft!

i find it depends who im sending to..

1 person on my contact recieved a 200mb file in just under 20 mins, where as the other one took well over 2 hours.... both lines where free of traffic as well

Speed hasn't changed for me, so there's gotta be something wrong on you (or your friends') end.

Make sure you have your ports forwarded. Otherwise the transfer is going to be routed through Microsoft's servers. Big bottleneck.

Oh, and it's Windows Live Messenger, not MSN Live Messenger.

default ports?? i have check and everytime i send files it takes a ramdon port........i manage to get better speeds turning off on the router the upnp support...
