Kaspersky 7 vs NOD32

Question

So I read that NOD32 isnt doing too well in its detection compared to Kaspersky - and Kaspersky is now apparently pretty damn light, so lemme ask - whats the fastest performer out of the 2?

Im using NOD32 on Vista at the moment and dont particularly wanna change but if I can get better detection at the same if not better performance.

Why the hell not? XD

Why not download trial and test it yourself? KIS is rather light. I'm using TR of v7 and so far so good. Interface has changed a bit, proactive module has been updated...

Detection rates are on Kaspersky's side, but it does not outperform NOD32 in resource usage and speed. It all comes down to what you prefer. It's useless to recommend something to another person because every configuration is different and so will performance/experience be different.

Lol, NOD32 let in 13 viruses when I done a test on my crappy Test Laptop.

Kaspersky is slower but it detected all of them.

I've been using KAV7 beta and it's pretty stable but there are a few memory leeks and other things that get a tad annoying.

What is going on? 1 minute you read NOD32 is best for detection and has won awards for detection and it is the lightest, next minute you hear it's Kaspersky. I'm baffled, NOD32 or Kaspersky? Decisions, Decisions!

I always knew Kaspersky had damn good detection rates but was wondeing how the speed is - RAM usage isnt too major since i got quite a bit, its scanning speed (on demand and on access) that im wondering about.

How much slower is it?

kaspersky is my choice really...and now they are developing it to be as light as NOD32 with the beta

im ks av 6.0.2.614 now....and it uses about 15mb of ram...and 2% cpu..with all of its protection feaures on

thats prettty good...when looking at Bitdefender...which just slows down ya pc like hell

i would like kaspersky to achieve about 90% of the ram/cpu usage as NOD32 does...then it will be invinsible

never had a problem with it...its user friendly and has super hiigh detection rates..found stuff on ma pc..which NOD32 didnt pick up..so yeh..im really impressed with the resource usage, detection and dedication of virus updates from the crew ova der

give it a go..

cheers

Actually i use them both, i have nod32 active dong all the monitoring and i use kaspersky as a standalone scanner, whenever i do a check i run nod32 then kaspersky to see if anything was missed, but anyways ive never had a virus in 5 years or even spyware etc, if you know what to look for and be sensible enough when browsing/downloading etc then youll always be fine!

Those who posted saying that they're staying with either one of the AV because they're already running it is not helping at all. At least provide some reasons which justify your choice of continuing with it.

I'm using NOD32 right now, and it does have its flaws. I get high CPU usage with archived files such as .zip or .rar.

Previous experience with Kaspersky is the same as the masses; a drag on average systems.

Detection rates isn't too much an issue for me since I'm pretty technical and would rarely get a virus. If you're looking for a reliable source of comparison, http://www.av-comparatives.org/ is a good place to go.

i used to use kaspersky; but when i upgraded my Outpost firewall to the latest version, kaspersky was f'ing it up so i had to switch to NOD so i'd have at least some protection

*edit* seems devyant beat me too it

been using KIS 7 during the beta works very well and fast for me using 7.0.0.119TR build atm works realy well on vista Ultimate edition 32bit AVP.exe uses around 4,636k on my PC with a AMD AM2 x2 3000+ & 2Gig DDR2 6400

I have been using Kaspersky 6 series..and I am satisfied about it. My only gripe with KIS is about its Firewall module, which I hate (I use Zonealarm)

I love the internet suite. What is so bad about the firewall module? It works very well on vista and seems to me to be the only one that works good on vista right one.

Until ZA gets their heads out of the sand and release their firewall for vista, KIS is the best.

Since NOD32 v2.XX has been around for a while, and KAV7 & KIS7 are brand-new, wouldn't a fairer comparison be KAV7 against NOD32 v3 (when it's out of beta) and KIS7 versus ESS (when it's out of beta)?

Steve.

Fair enough, KAV 6.0 still beats NOD32 in detection rates

    • Microsoft brings Planner Agent to all Microsoft 365 Copilot users by Ivan Jenic Image: Microsoft Microsoft has announced that Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot is now generally available to all users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Planner Agent is the latest addition in the string of AI features that Microsoft is implementing across virtually all of its products. The agent lets you manage tasks through natural language prompts directly inside Microsoft 365 Copilot. You can create and update tasks, check priorities, and get insights about current entries without leaving the chat interface. The general availability release comes with a handful of new additions on top of what was available during the initial rollout. A new plan picker lets you search and filter your plans by name, then update task names, statuses, due dates, or priorities through the agent. There's also a goals bucket now, which lets you group tasks under specific goals. This builds on the Goals view, a feature that was introduced as part of the broader Planner refresh that rolled out earlier. Image: Microsoft | Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot All AI-generated plans and tasks are created in draft mode by default, so you can review and approve changes before anything goes through. This is actually a thoughtful safety feature, because trusting AI to handle all your tasks without a human in the loop is usually a recipe for disaster. Having tasks initially saved as drafts is the best possible middle ground. Microsoft also says that not all tasks are executed equally. Simple tasks get processed quickly, while more complex ones, like building a plan from a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file, are handed to a more capable model. Microsoft says this approach delivers the best performance, but it could also help with usage management, as you won't have to waste tokens on performing simple tasks. Planner Agent is available now across Teams, Loop, SharePoint, and other Microsoft 365 apps for anyone on a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.
    • To be clear I'm anti trump, the bigger point is why review this game at all?
    • Trillion dollar Microsoft has to reduce spending by hurting more people. Good job Microsoft. Good Job Asha.
    • That's a shame. The big Xbox reset when Phil and Sarah left and then Asha came on and brought a new team of executives, and all the layoffs last year and saying that the ABK merger wouldn't result in redundancies I am surprised they are calling for yet another reset and yet more layoffs.
    • Arkane, Ninja Theory, and Double Fine might be on the chopping block too.
