Try this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;290301

Then download the newest wlm from messenger.live.com and give it another go.

G'luck, keep us posted.

Hiya.

Thank you for the reply, I now get two errors, the first one that pops up is

Warning 1909. COuld nor create Shortcut Windows Live Home.lnk. Verify that the destination folder exists and that you can access it.

AND the same error that I had in first place.

Thanks for helping.

Kind Regards.

Hi, I too have this problem, I was trying to install Windows Live Mail and I keep getting this 0x80070643 error, where the installer quits in the middle blaming a fatal error. I don't have the luxury of reinstalling Windows XP, and my old computer's specs do meet the requirements (and isn't 64bit).

I've gone through many methods, and even uninstalled all Windows Live + Windows live installer related things using a script on Microsoft.com, but nothing has worked and I can't get the installer to work.

Is there any other way to install these Windows Live things? If not can anyone help?

It seems I onloy have a 637 MHz processor, so that may be the reason the installer is freaking out. (Minimum spec is 800 MHz).

If this is the case, is there another way to get the Windows Live products?

In any case I will probably just go looking for another place to download Messenger.

Thanks for all your help, I will still check this thread.

Hello Guys,

i'm having the same problem I've tried the suggested ideas to fix this but no luck :/ (except that I can't re-install Windows too much of a hastle for a stupid msn messenger program)

if there are any ideas out there, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

This has been bugging me recently too. I found a solution that worked for me here - http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet...0x80070643.aspx

Scroll down, and near the bottom is a series of commands that need to be entered in order for the installation to proceed.

Just for completeness:

"I had the same problem. The way I fixed it (and it worked) was to go to

Start>Run, type 'cmd' and then enter each of these one at a time at the

command prompt (hit 'enter' after each one if needed):

regsvr32 wuapi.dll

regsvr32 wuaueng.dll

regsvr32 atl.dll

regsvr32 wucltui.dll

regsvr32 wups.dll

It also fixes an issue where you keep getting messages from the security

center saying automatic updates are off when the automatic update window says

they are on."

note: before these commands, you have to move into the system32 folder with "cd \windows\system32"

:)

This worked fine for me too, thanx.

    • I miss when there was blue and red and green devices. Now we get sand black or silver.... just like most car lots now.
    • Microsoft should never have purchased anything after RARE.
    • Call of Duty: Vanguard, EA Sports FC 26, and more come to Xbox Game Pass by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Microsoft is in the process of making some big changes to Xbox Game Studios right now, which might include studio shutdowns, but Game Pass drops aren't pausing for that. The second wave of June was just announced, unveiling another Call of Duty addition, the latest soccer game from EA, an indie road trip hit from last year, and more. While Microsoft said it won't put Call of Duty titles on Game Pass on the day of launch anymore, older titles keep landing, with the latest one being 2021's Call of Duty: Vanguard. Here are all the games that were announced today for Xbox Game Pass, their platforms, and arrival dates: Junkster (Cloud, XBOX Series X|S, Handheld, and PC) – June 16 Call of Duty: Vanguard (Cloud, Console, and PC) – June 17 EA Sports FC 26 (Cloud, Console, and PC) – June 18 Abyssus (Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC) – June 25 RV There Yet? (Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC) – June 30 Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 (Cloud, Console, and PC) – July 2 Winds of Arcana: Ruination (Cloud, Console, Handheld, and PC) – July 6 From the bunch, Junkster is the sole day-one drop into Game Pass libraries of this selection. As new games arrive, eight will be leaving the Game Pass programs on June 30. Here's the full list of leaving titles: Mecha Break (Cloud, Console, and PC) Payday 2 (Console) Rise of Tomb Raider (Cloud, Console, and PC) Tomb Raider (Cloud, Console, and PC) Slay the Spire (Cloud, Console, and PC) Ultimate Chicken Horse (Cloud, Console, and PC) Volcano Princess (Cloud, Console, and PC) Unpacking (Cloud, Console, and PC) With June drops finished, Microsoft should have a new Game Pass announcement in about two weeks to reveal the first wave of games coming to subscribers in July. Already confirmed games for the month include the Halo: Campaign Evolved remake, Corsair Cove, SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed, and Mistfall Hunter.
