I'm looking to get some new memory for my computer. 4 GB total. Is it better to go with 4 x 1GB sticks or 2 x 2GB sticks. I can get either for about the same price.

Thanks in advance.

PS. before you talk about 4GB not being seen fully on 32bit systems, I know.

Not only for the 8GB factor which I'm going to have but also the timings of the memory might run in 1T compared to 2T with 4 banks filled and there would be a performance improvement running only with 2.

Now I cannot wait longer for my system to be here so I could build it...

If you bought the 2x2gb you could use the Dual Channel Memory function on your motherboard which should be a lot faster than using 4x1gb. Or so I hear - can't afford it at the mo!!! :D

Well 4x1gb would also go dual channel if you had matching pairs. SO it would probably be the same.

Anyway Go 2x2 for easier upgrading later.
