Networking issues in Leopard

Recommended Posts

I have Leopard 10.5.4 in my imac configured for sharing my files, I already went to system preferences - sharing - options - smb and afp selected. My issues is that I have Windows 2000 in my networked computers (Leopard & Windows 2000) Windows 2000 can connect to leopard without problem, when I try to do that in the finder I can see the username of Windows 2000 but I can't connect, the only thing that appear there is the message: "Connection Failed" I tried to use "Connect as" but the button does not do anything. Does anyone know what is wrong with Leopard? I remember in Tiger it was so easy to connect to my windows computer

I had a similar problem (however with a Windows Vista system and a Leopard Macbook Pro). I eventually had to create a dedicated account on the windows computer (call it "imac" then give it a password and enter those two values in the "connect as..." dialogue on the imac and see if that works for you.

I went to another mac forum and I found the fix to my problem, just open terminal and do this:

sudo rm /System/Library/Filesystems/afpfs.fs

sudo ln -s /System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/afpfs.kext /System/Library/Filesystems/afpfs.fs

problem solved!

Ha, that worked for me too - I could connect just fine yesterday, but then today, I was getting error -41 everytime I tried to connect to a SMB share, through "connect to a server" and nothing has changed since I first set it up (and I could see my Mac just fine from the Vista network panel).

Stupid Leopard.
