iPod Touch Firmware Question

I'm thinking about purchasing an Ipod Touch, yet I don't want Firmware 2.0 on my Ipod, and I'd be happier with 1.1.4 or higher. I noticed that you need to pay 10 dollars to buy Firmware 2.0, but when I purchase my Ipod Touch, will it come with 2.0?

Why on earth wouldn't you want Firmware 2.0? If you buy it from Apple it'll be the latest Hardware and Firmware revisions, if you buy it from a retailer, it'll be older, possibly very old

A lot of the ipod touch (with John Lennon) still contain 1.1.4 firmware as compared to 2.0. It is kind of annoying though, but, if you wait a few more weeks, hopefully inventory will drop and the new 2.0 ipods will be on shelves.

1.1.4 was much better and the Installer.app had better and FREEer applications. You're not as restricted by 1.1.4 are you are on 2.0.1.

Please note however, that if you phone apple and say that it's got "1.1.4" they'll give you Firmware 2.0 for free on the iTunes Store.

How are Apple the Communists if it's the Software Developers that arnt coding their Apps for 2.0?

And anyway, more software available on the iTunes App Store then is available on Installer.app anyway.

Yes, But it's not easy and is going to cause problems, why anyway?

It's not hard at all... Simply put the iPod into DFU mode and use iTunes 7.5 to restore to a 1.1.4 image.

You can, yes. But there aren't many compatible applications in Cydia/Installer yet.

I'm still using 1.1.4 on my iPod because there is no MobileScrobbler replacement yet!

Alrighty, well I got myself prepared incase I have to downgrade. Now if only iTunes for Windows was faster.. :p

don't downgrade, man. all the utilities are coming to the 2.0 firmware and with the AppStore, there's potential for so much more stuff, too :)

edit: just to reinforce, you CAN jailbreak 2.0 and put Cydia/Installer.app on it.

Yea if you haven't already got a jailbreaked ipod with old firmware and apps that are not on 2.0+ then get 2.0 dude! Your not losing out. You are gaining if anything.
