WiFi connection timeout when connecting in Windows Vista?

Recommended Posts

Next to me is a Compaq Presario CQ50 that I'm trying to connect to our router. Only problem is that everytime I connect it asks for the pass, I hit connect, it scrolls that green thing across a few times, then says that it can't connect (Vista is irritatingly vague :/). It then tells me after asking for more info that there was a connection timeout. I'm not very good with networks and stuff so I'm not really sure what could cause that.

The router is a 3Com router and the encryption is WPA-PSK. Yes, I'm certain I typed the pass correctly, and the router works as I'm posting through it right now wirelessly. I've tried turning it off and on but that didn't really work :p

Any ideas?

Still having the same issue. Using a USB WiFi stick works, so I guess that narrows it down a little. Sometimes it connects for a bit if it's close enough. It's weird. Returning the laptop is low down on "list of things to try" as it was purchased in Norway :/
