Is it worth putting an AM2+ CPU on a mobo that supports AM2?

I know my motherboard supports AM2+ CPUs, even though it's only an AM2 socket... The only thing is the the system bus speed will downgrade from HT3.0 to HT1.0. The frequency will stay the same though... I'm not too what that means; Is the downgrade thing a deal breaker for any AM2+ CPU's ?

Right now, I'm using an X2 4000+ overclocked slightly.. I know this processor is aging, but I'm not sure if it's better to get an AM2+ CPU and deal with the downgrade, or just get a new mobo w/ processor...

HAving moved away form AMD after the Athlon 64 I cannot really give a valid opinon, but I'd say it's probably better to upgrade both mobo and cpu

I would suggest a new AM2+ mobo that is AM3 compatible.
