Well after the old version got killed (all my uploads on the site I uploaded it on were deleted) I lost it forever (I had reformatted) but I have gotten some requests for it now and again, so here is the new working version, developed just for you guys :)

It doesn't have all the old features (namely it doesn't have the saving to a folder with a the date (YearDayMillisec.png) automatically but if anyone wants that I will be happy to add it in real quick. (its not that hard)

So, here it is for you all to enjoy and remember to report any bugs or ask for any features you want.

Features:

When you hit Print Screen it automatically brings up a dialog asking you where to save it (defaults to PNG)

If you want a new feature like the autosave i mentioned above or something else ask, I will be happy to make it.

As soon as I hit print screen it promptly asks to save the file, I choose the filename and where to save it, then it prompts me again with the same dialog. I hit cancel and it crashes.

My friend reports it doesn't work on dual screens though :(

The dual screen thing is probably because of the unorthodox method of taking the actual Screenshot (it doesn't use the actual printscreen function)

I will see what I can do about dual screens (unfortunately I cannot test it though)

Couldn't edit post for some reason.

I have now found that, if I hit print screen, opens the dialogue, if I cancel the dialogue then it brings it up again and if I cancel it that time, it crashes.

Simple nice, I want auto- save & name feature, it could help a lot when you take screenshots for a software review :)

Have you tried the things I said I had problems with, just so I know if it's just me or whether it's the program in general.

It seems to work fine in most instances, but does crash when you do certain things ala my last post etc.

actually, for me, it worked, i saved the file, but then it immediately brought up the dialog box again. i canceled it and it crashed.

Sorry that I lost track of this thread again. My motherboard fried and needed to get a new computer. Gonna rewrite it from scratch, again, and make sure to fix/add all the stuff you people mentioned. Gimmie a day or 2 (:

Great tool, seems to work here (Win7 Beta).

A few suggestions though:

• The autosave feature you mentioned, but with an option to just name them "Screenshot 1", "Screenshot 2", etc. etc. as well.
  
• Support for Alt+PrintScreen?

:pinch: I was hoping no one would mention alt+printscreen. I had problems trying to get that to work, particularly on Vista/7. None the less, I'll see what I can do for what you all want. (and maybe I can get alt+printscreen to work)

It still doesn't have the new option autosave but all the bugs are fixed (I think)

*Note* I had to compile this on x64, but since its .net I think it still works on x86. If it doesn't I'll need to install a dual boot with x86 xp and compile it. Please post if it doesn't work on x86.

I would, but I won't be able to access it till tomorrow. I'll post it then. In the mean time you can look into the ManagedWindowsAPI's lowlevelkeyboardhook class.
