Announcement: Mini, Lite, Tiny, and from Shift Linux

Recommended Posts

Ever since Shift Lite was axed (in this crazy economy :p ), people have been asking about the future of Shift in terms of "Lite-ness". Shift continues to be developed as a Gnome OS, but I'd like to spread the word on a project started by me which uses the same exact Shift base (you can almost say it's based on Shift) - only lighter and customized towards netbooks - Firefly Linux. I've been talking to Simon and he is OK with our projects working together and coexisting, and helping each other out. Firefly and Shift don't compete - they're looking for different markets. Firefly will use the LXDE desktop by default, and is looking at Netbook-Launchers and interfaces.

If you'd like to add input to Firefly, want to request something, have netbook info, or want in on this project too, just send me a PM or reply here. We need Linux application and Python developers as well as GTK and Glade devlopers to make the distribution beautiful.

Also, to clear this up: I will not be leaving Shift, I will continue to do everything I've done. Firefly Linux does not affect this at all.
