Customizing the Most Recently Used programs list in the start menu

Recommended Posts

SOLUTION

  1. Open regedt32
  2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\[application name]
  3. Add an empty string value called NoStartPage
  4. Log off then log back on

PROBLEM

Is there a way to stop certain programs from showing up on the MRU? I vaguely remember some tweak software that had allowed you to prevent certain applications from showing up on it.

The reason I ask is because certain things like Back Up and Restore show up on my MRU due to all the file modification I do in Program Files. I really, really don't want this thing to show up in the start menu. Same goes fore Notepad and Calculator.

And no, I don't want to set the MRU to zero either.

Why not just right click the item, then click "Remove from this list".

Two clicks, job done.

That doesn't necessarily fix the problem completely since those applications can return to the list.

Here's a small article in LifeHacker that may solve your problems. >>Click Here<<

Solid Knight: 'Big up'. Saved me up to 3 days messing with registry. Initially, i waited for Tuneup but in the 2010 version the functionality isn't available - then again it could be but haven't really delved into it. Thank you!!!
