When I try to use the internet a number of webpages are downloading with gaps in the text. The gaps do not occur on every webpage but they do occur on webpages from different sites, even some pages from Neowin Forums. They also occur when I use different browsers. There is one other strange characteristic. sometimes these blanks occur on a web page where I am required to make a selection from a number of alternatives, for example, the Windows XP on the Neowin opening page, however, if I click where the incomplete title is located, then the computer accepts this entry and makes the correct choice of website. For example, the title of this forum appears as "Cu t izing Wind w XP". My daughter tells me that, although the text is absent, the underlying hyperlink is still active. The response is bizarre since I seem to be clicking on the ghost of a word. The problem only occurs on my Dell Dimension 4500 computer. I am most concerned about the missing text since on many pages the text is incomprehensible with so many blanks. Please can anyone suggest a cause and a solution to the above problem?

I would be grateful for help on this forum since I have been unable to find any help elswhere.

I have had a response from elsewhere which has helped with this problem. I have investigated a suggestion about faulty fonts and, using Tools<Internet Options< Fonts< , I selected two new default fonts. I then used Tools<Internet Options<Accessibility< and selected the three options to alter the appearance of web pages. The text now appears to be complete. The problem seems to indicate errors in the Fonts that were being used although I am not completely convinced since the errors in the displayed text were not consistent and after looking more closely at the errors they seemed to be mainly confined to words printed in Bold. However, this approach may help other people who have this problem.

    • Marshall Major V Bluetooth headphones are now up to 47% off on Amazon by Ivan Jenic The Marshall Major V in Midnight Blue is currently $89.99 on Amazon, down from $169.99. That's 47% off and $80 saved on a pair of wireless on-ear headphones from one of the most recognizable names in audio. The Major V is Marshall's take on a long-lasting everyday headphone. The headphones deliver 100+ hours of wireless playtime, which puts them in a completely different category from most Bluetooth headphones that hover around 30-40 hours. You’re charging this thing once a week at most, and with wireless charging supported, you don’t have to worry about additional cables. Marshall promises its signature sound profile, with strong bass, smooth mids, and clear highs. There’s a customizable M-button, which you can set to quickly access Spotify Tap, your EQ settings, or a voice assistant. The design is foldable and lightweight at 186 grams, so it’s easy to pack for travel. And finally, the faux leather finish gives the Major V a sleek, premium look. At $89.99, the Major V Midnight Blue is a genuinely strong buy for anyone who wants a reliable daily headphone without paying premium prices. It’s also worth mentioning that the Cream and Brown variants are also discounted to $89.99, though from a lower original price of $99.99.
