simple

make a new machine with the wizard, take your dos disks and install it, then install win 3.1 and ready :)

i have burnt windows 3.1 into a cdrw and booted up with the windows 98 boot disk but then the the windows 3.1 setup file won't open...

yea, you have first to install a bootable dos version, you can try after you bootet from your win98 startdisk to type in

format c:\ /s

then reboot without your startdisk, install cd-rom drivers for dos and then to install win 3.1

4. install dos

5. get cd drivers for dos from the net or your win 98 floppys (take a look in the autoexec.bat and config.sys and copy the required files to your c:) and install them

6. reboot

7. install w31 from your w31 cd

You install it the same way you would install it on a normal PC.

Install DOS.

Run setup.

Job done!

This is VMWare, but, it works the same way....

Yea, i first read sth. wrong  but it's fairly the same actually

the only problem persists is that he has windows 3.1 on a cd and not on floppys, which would be easier

6. reboot

7. install w31 from your w31 cd

ok :) just boot with your windows 98 cd and then type in "format c: /s" then it will format your c: drive and copies system files to it so your c: drive gets bootable
