See More Results link in Start Menu goes nowhere

Recommended Posts

Hello there,

Installed Windows 7 fresh two days ago. Wiped my hard drive clean, put in the new OS, installed programs on top of it - the usual suspects, really, Microsoft Office 2007, Nero 7, these sorts of innocuous deals. Anyway when I click on the start button and put a search term into the search field, several results appear in the start menu; with Vista, when I would click on "see more results," a window would pop up that would allow me to customize my search. Now, when I click on "See more results," I see a quick flash of a window opening up, and it closes instantly. Nothing happens. Anyone experience this problem before, or is this just me? Do I need to "turn on the index" or something? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,

Norton

Actually Indexing wasn't turned on - not sure why. Right after I posted this topic, I went to the indexing options in control panel, and it read "The Index is not turned on" and the Modify button was greyed out. As I clicked on the Advanced button and started poking around, the Indexed locations window started to display folders and the index started running. Not sure what I did so that it didn't run automatically, but giving it a goose to let it know I wanted it running seems to have solved the problem.
