Speaker placement help

Hey guys, basically i bought 5.1 surround sound and a A/V receiver for my PS3/360/sky HD, having issues with where to put my speakers, The room its in is 13ft by 11ft wide with TV on the longest wall, so common sense says each corner right? well, this is a picture of setup (before a/v and speakers)

Basically its an odd shaped room, i am standing in the doorway there (imagine a rectangle with a cutout a small addon on the right side), i don't mind drilling into the wall or w.e as long as i can hide cables :p

The center goes above or below the Tv, the two front speakers go on the left and right side. the 2x rear go directly opposite the two front and the sub goes against a wall under and to the left or right of the TV.

Yeah, I read somewhere though that they had to be at certain angles etc etc, Surely if they are pointing at the "user" and setup right it should be fine?
