[ASP.NET] Problems with a navigation bar

In ASP.NET 4.0, the mark-up which is output is table-less, meaning the MenuItem control outputs <li> elements, the Menu control outputs <ul> elements etc. There is one major problem I have found with using <asp:MenuItem> controls though and that is that it basically requires each item to be the same size and position :blink: Unless I am missing something, there appears to be no way to style each MenuItem?

Basically, with the image attached to this post, I would like to create a navigation experience where if the user hovers over "Me" a drop-down of selections will appear and if the user hovers over "My Projects" a drop-down selection will appear. When developing a website in php, I used a sprite-like navigation bar, which worked really well (an example here), however there doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this using ASP.NET and its controls such as Menu and MenuItem? This is why I have resorted to trying to style each MenuItem control.

If anybody knows how to create the navigation experience I'd like, I would really appreciate any help :) Thank you very much in advance.

I've never used the MenuControl before but I imagine it would be exactly the same as how you did it in PHP, all CSS stuff?

I haven't used ASP.NET 4.0 yet, isn't there ItemTemplate available or something?
