  1. 1. Have you updated yet?

Hello all...

Just updated my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.1 and find it much more snappier, even though I couldn't really complain before. Texting is also much quicker - typing and sending.

The Game Center looks like a good concept and hopefully when more people upgrade to iOS 4.1 over the next few weeks it should start to flourish - a bit empty at the moment, for obvious reasons.

Anyone else upgraded? many people are reporting that the iPhone 3G is actually usable after upgrading.

I've upgraded my iPod Touch 2g to iOS 4.1.

I was surprised to see the Game Center return - wasn't it to be for iPod 3g and up only?

Other than that it's working smoothly. Significantly snappier? than iOS 4.0.x.

So I installed 4.1 on my 3g and did a jailbreak but now my phone app is missing. Anybody know how to fix this?

Restore your phone and DON'T JB it until the official 4.1 comes out and people have some time to code a decent JB for it.

is it available? Apple website still says coming soon

No it isn't, rumor has it this Wednesday is when it'll be available to everyone :) I can't be bothered getting it via "other means" this time, so waiting patiently for the official release.

iOS4.1 here seems to work nicely on my iPhone 3GS. However, I've turned off Bluetooth, 3G and the Wi-fi, and luminosity isn't pushed to the max, and the battery dies incredibly quickly. It was an issue before, but now I can't even call it an issue.

If I leave my iPhone on standby during a 6 hours night, it loses at least 30% of its battery. During the day, it ends up dying.

Also, I think if it searches for a network while in standby, it consumes like 20x more battery. I brought one outside of the city this week-end, and there was no 3G and no 2G network available, thanks to Fido and Rogers incredible network. Other cheapo companies and cellphones COULD make calls... Well, I quit my house at 7:45PM and the next day at 2PM, my iPhone 3GS was dead. I only used it for 30 min. to listen to music and make a phone call in the city :-\

damn!!! I can't wait for this to be available officialy. I don't want to go through the trouble of installing "dev versions" on my rogers locked phone. Have been usng it like this for 2y and don't want to unlock it. I just want my iphone 3g to become usable again. Its soooo terribly slow since the 4.0 upgrade.

The version that is out now is the GM seed, which is the final version you will get in next week.

What about the proximity sensor issue?

As far as I can tell, fixed. I was on a long phone call yesterday and I never noticed the screen pop on. I certainly never cheek-pressed anything.

My battery on my iPhone 4 drained like a mofo last night, but I think that was because I was in a stadium with 50,000 other people and my phone was having a hard time maintaining a good connection to the tower. Otherwise, it's been just about the same (multiple days of standby and about 8-9 hours of screen-on use time).
