Can't copy songs from itunes to ipod

I have a new computer and installed itunes and music.

However when I connect my ipod it shows up but I cannot transfer songs from itunes to it.

What is the cause of the problem and possible solution?

What happens if you turn on the syncing option? Granted, your whole library will be transferred across to your iPod, but at least we can start to see where the problem lies if that doesn't work...

1-What is the operating system on your computer (please state type and version, ie 'Windows 7')

2-What iPod model are you using?

3-What version of iTunes are you running?

4-What format are the music files you are attempting to copy?

Side note-perhaps the iPod was tied to another computer and needs to be synced up with your new one (note that depending on iPod model-may erase your iPod media)

In fairness, you're asking all the right questions though. I was going to wait until after the syncing option to ask those. ;)

It's because your iPod can only be synced to one computer at a time unless you enable the Manually manage music and videos option from under your iPod's summary tab. However, this method of syncing is much different from having iTunes automatically sync content for you.

So in order to sync your iPod with the new iTunes you'll need to copy the music from your iPod over to your new PC and then erase and sync it.

Try to reinstall itunes, maybe the driver for your ipod is broken/corrupted.

Is it possible that you have a different iTunes account for the iPod than the one you use for the iPad?

Technically, they should still transfer (as far as I know) but might not play. But since I have never owned an iPod, I cannot say for certain.
