I'm trying to record an online audio streaming broadcast on a regular basis but I wanted to stop by Neowin first to see if anybody had software recommendations.

Thanks that was the only decent one I've been able to find as well. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work with the streams I'm trying to record.

A local radio station linked here. The stream keeps trying to load initially but never seems to work.

The one and only working FREE program that I tried and it was capable to record that radio station (btw is very nice) is this. It's a toolbar and I know you hate toolbars (me too) but believe me nothing worked with that radio stream and I tried a lot of different applications.

You could try Virtual Audio Cable, allows you to pass an output/input between applications.

StreamRipper32 doesn't work.

you can also try audials tunebite I guess, you have there a bunch of audio recording options; where are you trying to record the stream from? I suppose you should be able to use the sound card recording feature..it works with pretty much anything as far as I know.
