GüntherJung
Hello. A friend gave me his broken motherboard with CPU and RAM. He said that it first booted from time to time and then it don't booted at all. The mobo is an ASUS A8N-E. I am not sure for the CPU, but one of it's pins is broken. I thing it was my fault xD. But this happend a little bit later. I fixed the CPU. Without the pin it even don't beeps the beep code. The RAM is DDR400 2x512MB. I have tried a GeForce 8600 GT that works perfectly on my computer. The beep code was something like 1 long and 2-3 short beeps. I read that it is a GPU issue, but my GPU is fine and the connection is all right. I even read on the internet that one has fixed it with a better PSU. My PSU isn't a good one i want to point, but i haven't a second one for testing. I read that if nothing fixes it then it is from a CPU connection issue of the mobo. I am not sure if they mean the CPU or the socket to the motherboard connection. Anyway i don't want to pay for fixing it. My dad has everything i need to fix it. I must just find it. Any suggestions? The mobo is functioning correctly, because it gives the beeps. PS: When i remove the 4pin 12V connection the fans turn faster than when it is connected, but i thing this fenomeno stoped a few turning ons later. rajputwarrior
it's a video card issue or something associated with the vid card. not enough power could be the problem. http://www.bioscentr.../awardbeep.htm# Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1028636-asus-a8n-e-mobo-beep-code-and-not-booting/#findComment-594342664 Share on other sites
SimplySchizo
GPU would be my primary guess as well. 2nd guess would be the PSU. (most probably faulty) Make sure both GPU and RAM are well seated. Eric Veteran Posted September 28, 2011 Veteran Share Posted September 28, 2011 Long beep + two short beeps is RAM. Take it out then put it back in and make sure it's all seated and the fasteners are snapped up all the way. Long beep + three short beeps is video. Take that out, make sure the card edge is clean, then reseat it fully and make sure that the fastern is snapped up and you have a power connector plugged into it if there is one for it. Don't leave the 4-pin unconnected or you may blow out the voltage rectifier on the board. GüntherJung
Hm have tried these. Everything is clean. I have an old GeForce 6200TC, but it's not with me now. I have tried 3 different rams in the 4 different slots and still nothing. The GPU is perfect on my PC. No problems. Even if i overclock it with 33% up. My friend said that it booted from time to time and then it stoped to boot at all. But when it booted it soon turns off i thing. The CPU and ram are 100% all right. The ram is tested on my PC and it works. GüntherJung
Hm i thing i have tried reseting the BIOS, but it didn't work, but i have progress. I installed on the thirth slot my 1GB DDR400 and It had a new beep code and the fans speed were now correct. I mean they were slow when it gave me 1 long and 2 short beeps. All of them. Now When it gives me 1 long and 3 short beeps they spin fast. So there is progress. But the GPU is totaly alright. The PCI-E slot looks ok. I don't see much dust in it. But there is definetly something with the RAM. I thing if i fix it then everything will work ok.
