im looking for good search engine alternative to google

the best one i have found so far is duckduckgo http://duckduckgo.com/ im wondering if there are any other alternatives you guy like that you could suggest and if you have not tried duckduckgo I highly recommended you give it a try and yes i have tried bing and yahoo dont like them

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DuckDuckGo

unfortunately, they just don't exist. google is king.

Agreed, Google is indeed King and provides the best search results, far more superior than bing or yahoo.com.

unfortunately, they just don't exist. google is king.

This, people need to get over it, Google is THE search engine to use, and people need to get off this "Google is Evil" BS, all companies want your information to do whatever with it, no one but you cares about your "privacy"

google gives me the most relevant hits on the topic I am looking for. I have tried many and have always returned to google....I used to like webcrawler when the interwebz was in its infancy, lycos too, even ask jeeves (which is now just ask). I have always dispised yahoo and aol search, talk about tons of irrelevant hits at the top..bing isn't much better.

Bing and Yahoo are pretty much the only quality alternatives.

I don't see why Google wouldn't give the best results though. It just honestly does.

isn't the yahoo search run by Bing now though?

Maybe I'm paranoid but does the "DG" in your username stand for "DuckGo" ... spam?? :p

Anyway, Google is by far the best search engine in my experience....and I've used them all Dogpile, Ask Jeeves, Lycos, Yahoo, Bing.. Google takes the cake :)

There are search engines other than Google?

I can't understand why people want to move away from something when it's "mainstream." There is a reason that Google is popular, it provides the best results.

EDIT:

Maybe I'm paranoid but does the "DG" in your username stand for "DuckGo" ... spam?? :p

Ha, being the cynical person I am, the same thought passed through my mind when I was reading this...

https://www.duckduckgo.com is a good one, and doesn't change the priority of search results based on your personal search history.

https://www.blekko.com is another good one that uses something called "slash tags" extensively to allow you to customize your search results.

    • Less powerful than a PS5 at twice the price! I wonder if they use that for marketing? Totally DoA.

    • How does it compare to the "SeeStar S30 Pro" and the "Vespera PRO 2"?
    • Indeed. And note that those units are MUCH cheaper than this new Steam Machine...ahem.
