Steam backup question

I have a problem on how to back up my 700+GB steam folder just in case something happens to my HDD.

the best way ive seen to back it up is to get a bigger hard drive and copy and paste the folder to that the new one.

Mine is backed up (incrementally) daily to the 2TB drive I have in the HTPC, it comes on at 6pm and backup starts at 6.10pm

I use the Steam backup plus I backup the Steam folder.

The easiest way is just to back up the steamapps folder in the install directory. I've always found the built-in one to be terribly slow and it tends to end up trying to download the games again instead of using the backup. :/

As for folder size... counting... counting... *snore*

Wha? Oh... 366 GB (394,024,109,860 bytes) - I have a few games that are not installed right now, too.

Why would I NOT do this. It only took about 10 minutes. It also did not try to DL the entire game again.

Whenever I purchase and download a new game, I use the steam backup utility on it and back up each game individually to my server. I used to back them up to DVD's but with the increasing size of games some of them no longer fit on DVD-9's and I don't like the idea of spanning them across multiple discs.

I also back up my user folder regularly to have a backup of savegames.

Currently my steamapps folder is 341 GB and growing. Whenever I re-install/re-format I copy the whole steamapps folder to another drive or partition.

I've been considering purchasing some rewritable Blu-Ray discs to backup my data but they are just too expensive currently compared DVD-R's/DVD-RW's.

I have Steam and all my steam games on a 1TB drive insstalled in my PC case. To back up I simply copy the whole drive to another drive.

How big is my steam folder?
