iMac 21.5 with MacBook air vs MacBook Pro with Dell Ultra Sharp?

Recommended Posts

I have been saving for around 1 year and a half since I'm young and I can't have a credit card :(. But anyway I have been wanting a iMac 21.5 low end and a MacBook Air 13 low end, or a MacBook Pro 15 with a Dell Ultra Sharp 24. I like the power and screen size of a iMac with a MacBook Air it gives me the freedom with going downstairs with it and if my iMac fails I have a secondary computer. I like the MacBook because it has lots of power on the go and on my desk and with an additional 24" Dell UltraSharp it will be iMac power but with mobility of a MacBook Air. So what's tour opinion? Thanks in advance :-)

I would recommend a MacBook Pro with Dell Ultra Sharp combo.

Currently I use a iMac 2010 27" at home, use an iPad for mobile internet apps etc and have a Lenovo notebook for work. I'm considering ditching the iMac and switching to a MacBook Pro simply because I'm not home enough to use a desktop computer.

If you're the kind of person who spends a lot of time outside of your home (i.e. for work, study etc) then I would suggest to go for a MacBook Pro. They generally benchmark the same level of power as an iMac anyway.

Hope this helps you with your decision.

    • I'm still rocking iOS 25.x on my primary phone cuz iOS 26 still has usability quirks (mostly aesthetic and thus its UX) which I don't wanna deal with -- and I've been piloting them with all of these updates on my backup phone, so I'm well aware of its "improvements" since iOS 26 was first released (compared to version 26.5.x).
