I have found a strange thing on the phone... everything is fine and dandy but once the phone goes out range of my mobile network, it does not get it back even though i am standing beside the tower. :s

Today I went to the basement and it lost the network... after about 3 hours I opened my phone to find that there is no network. selection is set to automatic. Anybody else faced this issue?

It comes back if I manually do a selection or restart the phone...

do the OTA programming again.... it's normally like *228 or something like that... depends on the carrier I think. (this is what you need to do when activating a new phone)

or go to the Update PRL section and let it do it's thing...???

Settings --> System --> Carrier and scroll to the bottom

Mine is a unbranded Omnia W.

There is nothing called carrier in settings. There is a mobile networks section in settings. Which has automatic or choose manually. Its set to automatic by default.

Same thing here with Optimus 7. I really hate it, it happens ~50% of the time when I lose the connection with the network. Then I have to either restart the phone or manually select the network.

yes *228 does not do anything. A strange bug i would say and really annoying and problematic for people who travel a lot. :(
