US map with pictures.

Hey, so I think it be really cool to have a map of the US that has a famous picture of each state as the place holder for the state.

Get it?

so for Washington, maybe there is a picture of the space needle with mount rainier in the background. this picture is cut up to the shape of Washington state.

for NY. we have a nice picture of the manhatten skyline cut up into the picture of the state.

for CA. big state, lots of famous pictures, we have multiple pictures: golden gate picture goes where SF would be below it we have a picture of LA traffic and so on.

Anyone else think this would be cool? maybe something to hang in a classroom for kids.

now imagine having something for the world.... can't print this one on paper but maybe google earth could work it in. as we zoom in on a region, it breaks it up into sections with more famous pictures.

so what's your plan for the smaller states like Rhode Island?

Besides, there are already maps which are very close to what you describe - just google image searches for US map with landmarks

I did. I am looking for a big non cartoonish map. real high quality photographs for each state. small ones just get a smaller picture... it' too bad but that's why I was thinking maybe google earth could work this in and the pictures would get bigger and more numerous as you zoom in on a region.

I think it might be a bit difficult to find such a map on paper.

On internet, Google Earth, Bing Maps and Wikipedia Maps would be ideal for any of your necessities
