Doom 4 not cancelled, leaked screenshots released

Doom.....or Rage?

Guess it looks too much like Rage.

My thoughts exactly, These look like they are from a build of Rage, and definitely do not have a Doom feel to them.

I mean I know it is going to be the same engine, but it just does not really feel like Doom to me at all.

Them images look nothing like a Doom game. They did announce awhile back that they were taking the franchise to a different story, although I love the idea of fighting demons and other weird looking creatures on Mars from Doom 3. Doom 3 was a scary game and if Doom 4 isn't I wont be buying it.

Personally I think ID should just wait for the next gen consoles.

Isn't the McDonald'ss logo copyrighted?

Idsoft just put it on hold until they could get Rage out the door.

They canceled it after they saw how bad Rage did, I feel bad for ID they used to make great games but Call of Duty has pushed the FPS limit so far forward what IDs making now is no longer all that impressive and looks rather dated.

They haven't made good games since doom. And even that wasn't that good. It was imply violent and the first decent fps. It just didn't have much, any, competition.

Here's a tweet from iD Software's Mathew Hooper:

oh I see. Those images have nothing to do with what you're gonna see in Doom4. When we officially show things you'll see awesome

The screenshots don't look too bad but they're not impressive either. It looks like a showcase of early Doom 4 assets in id tech 5. My expectations for the game dropped when I played Rage for the first time. The texture and performance issues were almost inexcusable. I really hope they improve the engine for Doom 4.

So we know Doom 4 isn't cancelled. Good. I really enjoyed Doom 3 and Ressurection of Evil. But they are very linear.

I kinda hope with Doom 4 they add more NPC interaction and sort of get off the linear, corridor shooter and take a dip into some more open area environments. I know Mars is still a toxic wasteland in Doom 3, but I'm sure there's some areas of the UAC buildings are massive.
