I would like to build an custom attractive small powerful pc.

can anyone here recomment the case, and all the components. i dont mind spending the money, if i can get something powerful that will look good in my home theater setup.

please help, i dont even know where to start. it has been years since i stopped following pc hardware.

SO:

good looking small case pc with good hardware to run battlefield 3, to be used in the home cinema setup :)

if you can suggest something similar, or just use that case for reference and suggest what components to fill it up with, I would be super happy

such as, what power supply, video card, ram and such to buy. i want i7 cpu.

thanks again.

Here is a nice case that comes with a power supply. http://www.newegg.co...N82E16811108065

I would go with this memory (8 GB) http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820233170

I personally like AMD, but if you have to go with an i7, go with this it also has a nice motherboard http://www.newegg.co...st=Combo.840493

For the HDD I would go with a 2TB, http://www.newegg.co...N82E16822136792

As far as the video card goes, what type of monitor do you have? Will you be using HDMI, VGA, or DVI? I really like this one and it has all three :) http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814121468

With these components you will be going for about $1100, but I am not sure what your range is so I went with mid-range prices.

Hope this helps! :)

I switched from a different Micro ATX to the one you linked, just cause it comes with a PSU and ran cheaper for me. For now I think I'll just run the stock heat sink. Until you linked that one I couldn't find one small enough to fit but I don't imagine it will need more than stock for what I'm using it for.

i dont want alienware. i want a custom build pc. thank you greenowner, that is exactly the price range i was looking at.

i am looking to connect through HDMI to an amplifier.

ideally i would like a nice soundcard with optical out, to connect to the same amplifier.

You should be able to send 5.1 audio down the HDMI cable.

Personally I don't see the need in sounds cards, they can be very expensive at what performance/quality gain?

i though hdmi is coming from the video card. can the motherboard output sound through it from the on board sound card????

i though you HAD to have sound coming separately.

also, i am not sure myself of the need for dedicated soundcard, since most on board solutions already have multichannel sound.... anyone can comment on the need for one???

The HSF might be too tall for the case? I used a Cooler Master GeminII in my HTPC Silverstone GD06b with great success on a Phenom II x4. Other remarkably similar designs are available from other well known HSF makers, all very good.
