I think it's worth it just for the automatic updates.

I've never let mine expire, but according to the SOE EULA, if I understood it right, you'd have to re-pay for discounted games. Maybe that has changed, I haven't read it since I first got PS+.

If you bought it, it's yours. Even after Plus expires. You can check using the information icon. You do not, and never did, had to pay again for a game that you've already purchased because you used a PS+ discount. PSN Store has discounts all the time, they work the same way.

We should just have a sticky "Is PS+ worth the money?" and the thread would just have a huge, red, YES!

So if I had a year of PS plus, drop the subscription for three months, and then join again. Do I get access to all those previous games again?

Yes you do.

Plus is extremely worth it right now, even if you are in US. Discounts as of today - Shank 2 - FREE - Shift 2 Unleashed - FREE. Those 2 games right there will run you the price of the subscription alone.
Journey at a discount... Free themes, avators, and some DLC.
Biggest + about PSN + is the automatic updates and automatic upload of your saves to cloud.

It is worth every penny and then some IMO. As others have mentioned, Automatic Updates alone pretty much make it worth it IMO, but just this past week, kick ass amount of GOOD games.
Here is what I said in a thread about the latest + update...

Did not even see this thread until after I saw all of the good stuff on + this week, Wow. Definitely very cool. Going to break out my Logitech GT again for Shift 2, Shank 2 for free is awesome, original Silent Hill and Canabalt, all free. Damn good week, pretty much the best one ever. Very nice.

Automatic updates, lots of free games, and save games backed up to the cloud... can't say fairer than that for £30!

Even after you purchase a subscription to it, you can purchase a renewal for 2 years for $44.99 instead of $59.99. I like it for the 60 minute full game trials. Its part of the reason why I purchased Borderlands GOTY.

I doubt you'll find many users have a poor opinion of PS+. It is something Sony has managed not to **** up.
