List of Lion full screen apps?

Recommended Posts

Not sure about a comprehensive list already existing, but we could start one! :p Here are the third party apps I use that support full-screen mode:

  • Sparrow
  • Evernote
  • Rdio
  • SublimeText 2
  • Chocolat
  • TextMate (with a plugin)
  • GitHub
  • Byword
  • VMware Fusion
  • Analog
  • 1Password
  • Reeder
  • Pixelmator

I wish the Creative Suite apps supported native full-screen, but it doesn't look like that's coming in CS6.

I don't understand the full screen thing...

I've a 27" screen and I want the whole screen to be Safari or Evernote?

What would you guys use it for?

I don't use it when I'm using my Thunderbolt Display, but I love it when I'm using my 11" MBA screen.

So I tried sparrow and it somehow messed up my IMAP account, I had to get it unlocked by tech support. So much for that.

If you're just using IMAP, you might as well just use Mail. It supports full-screen mode as well.

I use Sparrow because I exclusively use Gmail.

No full screen in CS6? Why are devs so averse to implementing the feature?

every since PS came to windows I've heard the excuse "PS is better on the mac because it doesn't use up the whole screen with that stupid MDI window"... now apple introduces full screen apps and people are complaining that CS6 isn't full screen

Sometimes I prefer a small Photoshop document window (like when I'm working with small asset files). Other times I want my document taking up the whole screen (like when I'm working with a website/UI mockup).

Pixelmator does it perfectly. If I want a small window and panels that just show and hide depending on application focus, Pixelmator does that. If I want a document to take up the whole screen (using Lion's full screen API), Pixelmator does that too.

I'm a Windows fan, Lion was the first version of OSX to really grab my interest because of full screen apps.

    • Too late for a slightly older computer I had that didn't meet the hardware requirements for Windows 11 but had great hardware. I installed ubuntu on that thing and gave to a friend's kid.
