So I was thinking....

You know the new Nook that is backlit, or even the upcoming Kindle Touch with a built in light; what is the difference between them and a tablet? Reading for lengthy periods of time on tablets are a strain on the eyes because of the back lighting, how are these e-ink devices any different now?

The way I see it, the only advantage of backlit e-ink devices over tablets is their insane battery life.

They are not backlit. The new NOOK is front lit. And will only be a tiny bit of light. Just enough to read. While it will still give you strain on your eyes as a regular tablet if that stuff bothers you.

I love my nook as it is easy on my eyes. Staring all day at a monitor bothers my eyes.
