On board Audio

While searching for hackintosh drivers for my onboard audio, i found a guy with same motherboard as mine, but with different sound card, We both have MSI x58 pro-e mobo, but his onboard audio is ALC888s, and mine is ALC889. I know many people who have same mobo as mine and they all have ALC889. I found it really strange, same company, same mobo and model, how can the audio chipset can be different?

Might just be a minor update on your board as in a new revision. ( manufactures will do that every now and then) the same driver should work

how can 888s driver work on 889? they are different cards..

One more thing, when i check my mobo page on MSI's Italian website, it shows 888s, but if i check english website, it shows 889. :/

Most onboard sound cards use single driver packs that include many different models in the pack.
