WP7 Twitter

I think I've mentioned this before - I don't particularly like WP7 Twitter apps. However, I sadistically went out and bought a Nokia Lumia 900 which to be honest, I'm COMPLETELY in love with. However, I have ONE gripe now about the "official" twitter app. How come link shortening doesn't work? I paste a link into a tweet, it does not seem to eat up the character allowance but won't let me send the Tweet out. Any thoughts? Am I doing something wrong? I'm copying a link from IE and then just pasting into Tweet.

Try Rowi or Carbon. I prefer Carbon, but both are top notch.

By official app you mean the Twitter app from the marketplace or the integrated one?

Have your tried entering the link manually does that do any difference?
