Fox renews 'Touch,' cancels 'Alcatraz'

Recommended Posts

Keifer Sutherland?s Fox drama Touch has been renewed for a second season, but has cancelled freshman drama Alcatraz.

Touch is getting another round at the network, despite relatively modest ratings for the show?s debut season. The drama is produced by Fox?s sister studio 20th Century Fox and the network has a long and strong relationship with star Sutherland from his days on 24.

Meanwhile, J.J. Abrams? mystery thriller Alcatraz got the boot after 13 episodes. Both the Touch renewal and the Alcatraz cancellation were largely expected. Fox declined to comment on either move.

Still no word clear yet on Fox?s other freshman drama on the bubble, The Finder. Obviously the bubbliest bubble show, Fringe, received a fifth-and-final season order already.

This is just another example of Fox pulling sci-fi shows that need time to ramp up the fanbase. There just simply isn't any room on Fox anymore for shows like The X-Files or Fringe where the mythology of the show takes a couple of seasons to really pull people in. I wonder how Lost would have done had it not have been on ABC.

This is exactly why I stopped watching any show weekly and wait for the season to be over and renewed before investing so much time on a show.

This is just BS why do the Networks do this to us.

http://tviv.org/Cancelled_2007-2008_Season_(USA)

some of the shows i enjoyed such as

Journeyman Writers strike caused this and the network pulled the plug early leaving allot to be told and plat and mythology to be siad

Bionic Woman i really enjoyed this but agian the Strike

Moonlight Part Strike left allot to be told and the whole love story line was rushed because it got Axed

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Left us with a big cliffhanger like the others

those are just a few i can list i enjoyed and now Fox has axed the Finer ( loved it ) Alcatraz ( different but good )

Alcatraz was terrible so I am not too disappointed. The lead actress could not act for sh*t and the writing was questionable. I remember that there were two particular instances at the start of the season in which she was involved in shoot-outs... both times she threw away her gun and came out of hiding and left her self and the hostage at the mercy of the bad guy.

Pretty happy that Fringe got renewed though.

This is the thing with so many American series' you need to start to watch the first series when you know the 2nd is about to be released as it's always a let down.

I also bring up my favourite of "Invasion" loved it to peices then it got cancelled, had I of known there wasn't going to be a 2nd I wouldn't of ever watched the first as it just angers me!

Didn't watch Touch or Alcatraz though..

Definitely this! I'm still ****ed HBO cancel Carnivale. I have the first two seasons and every time I look at them I get angry knowing that such a spectacular show got the ax because of the 'ratings'. Oh and Firefox. Damn it, now I need to punch a bear.

add the Finder to that list...

I actually enjoyed The Finder but when it was moved to Friday nights where all good shows go to die I knew it was done.

Lost interest in Alcatraz after 3 episodes, they were right to cancel it.

Really enjoying Touch on the other hand!

Yeah they should cancel it just because you don't like it. They should cancel everything you don't like just to make you happy.

They were both pretty rubbish. Lets not kid outselves, there is a reason most of these shows get canned, they are just not very good. Say what you what about Lost or other successes but they have good characters that you enjoy watching regardless of ropey stories. These other shows don't get close to something as important as that and you don't need two seasons to make it work.

Glad they gave Fringe one last hurrah. Now they get to do their ending.

Rediculous... For all these tv shows that are supposed to span more than one season and only make it one, they should offer a story synopsis when they get cancelled. Where is the professional courtesy... Makes you want to stop watching these new shows.

The reason they get canned is because Fox expects instant ratings success, not every show is a big hit, they don't give the shows time to establish themselves.

TV Ratings aren't calculated properly either, they don't take into account out of the home viewing, and I'm pretty sure they don't count DVR and Online Viewing.

yeah took me a while to watch Once Upon a Time because I wasn't sure if it would get cancelled

i said it once, i'll say it again....f*** you fox, thanks for another cancellation, keep it up with the same crappy shows like i hate my teenage daughter and such....and cancel something that was starting to get real good.

    • Didn’t Dbrand once complain that Casetify was ripping off their designs a well? seems pretty bad of them to try and get around Valve’s copyright this way with that in mind.
    • Dbrand thought they could get away with this Steam Machine case, Valve disagreed by David Uzondu Image via Dbrand Dbrand has cancelled its highly anticipated Companion Cube enclosure for the Valve Steam Machine, which it teased back in November of last year with a concept render and sign-up page, because it did not ask Valve for permission first before manufacturing the case. According to Dbrand, it took the "backwards approach" of building the product first before asking for permission from the copyright holder. Seven months of work went into the project, requiring over a thousand engineering hours from the design team. Workers developed forty-four sets of injection molding tools, making a unique mold for each sub-component of the crate. When the Companion Cube went live on Monday last week, it, according to Dbrand, quickly became the second-fastest-selling product in the company's fifteen-year history, racking up orders for hundreds of thousands of units. Customers eagerly bought the $129.95 deluxe edition or the bare-bones $99.95 version, which the manufacturer cheekily branded as the "Poverty Cube". It was around this time that the legal eagles at Valve descended on the accessory maker with a formal demand. The developer pointed out that the iconic block design remains protected intellectual property from the game Portal, so unlicensed sales had to stop. Dbrand said that all its pleas to salvage the project with the Valve team, including proposals to run a properly licensed release under official terms "with their blessing", fell on deaf ears, so it had no choice but to obey and remove every trace of the product from the internet. If you bought the enclosure, the company said that banks will process your refund by the end of this week, but if it still hasn't arrived in your account by then, you should not hesitate to contact support. The Steam Machine itself is a high-performance console that Valve designed directly to bring PC gaming into the living room. It was announced on 12th November 2025 (the same day Dbrand announced the Cube) and runs on the Linux-based SteamOS, the same OS that powers the Steam Deck. As for the price, due to the shortage of memory and storage chips, the hardware cost landed much higher than people were expecting, starting at $1,049 for the 512 model (without a controller) or $1,128 with the new gamepad. The premium 2 TB model pushes those prices even higher, selling at $1,349 for the standalone console and hitting $1,428 if you want the bundle.
    • It's listed #399.99 on Amazon, per your link. It's not $299.99.
