What tempature should my i5 ivy bridge be running at?

My 65nm Conroe runs at 40'c under 70-75% load with the stock cooler and that's with 2 broken HSF prongs. I would have thought newer architecture reduced temps not the other way around?

Yes I had to remove the cpu/fan when I got a mobo repalcement.... And I never got new thermal grease I wonder if that is effecting the tempature

The temp with a stock cooler should be around 30 - 32 C. You should always clean of old thermal compound and apply new when switching CPUs or heat sinks.

Seems about as high as my x58 SLI used to be; I would see my old board temperature anywhere from 64 to 70 C. 59 C may be normal for H55, but it's high for H67 / H77.

The i5 should be idling in the 30s and under heavy load you don't want it going into the late 60s.

Mine tends to hover around 55? under heavy load but I've got 3 case fans and perfect airflow in the case.

Yeah even in the dead of winter when my room would hit temps like -2 it would be in the upper 50s

My result was with 1104. It's only Speccy though, never had a problem with readings using other software. :D
