[Photoshop] Drawing vector graphics

Recommended Posts

My sister is a good artist. A friend of mine wants to hire her to re-draw some images in a vector format so that he can put them on T-shirts.

My sister is somewhat experienced with Photoshop. Does she need another program? Or can Photoshop do vector graphics?

Also, what is the best way to learn how to work with vector graphics?

Thanks :)

Adobe Illustrator is what you need for drawing vectors. Photoshop primarily deals with raster images, or course you could draw them at a high res in photoshop then convert the image to vectors but that's messy, would be slower than using illustrator and the results woruld be worse.

As both Illustrator and Photoshop are Adobe products there are many similarities... however don't expect to pick it up instantly as they do work fairly differently.

If she wants good vector work your friend needs someone who is a good artist and also good at drawing vectors.

If your sister has time to spare then you could pick up the basics in a few days, but like most professional programs Illustrator takes years to master.
