I've been collaborating with a friend for some time, and we finally launched our website. How can we promote it and get users? I don't mind spending money.

I'm thinking:

-> Facebook advertising
-> Google advertising
-> Maybe advertising on Neowin? (actually buying ad-space)

How effective would all that be?

Thanks! :)

Try using re-targeting / re-marketing as well. Ideally, if your spends are large enough you'd like to use the services of MediaMath. They're pretty good when it comes scalable marketing over the internet. Running an affiliate program would help generate business if that's part of your websites model. All the best! :-)

The URL is: http://www.anythingforum.net/

Basically, it's a forum for people to post basically anything they want to (except the obvious stuff, like CP, copyright-infringing material, otherwise illegal stuff, etc).

I'm just trying to be honest and realistic, why would people go to your site when many other forums, like neowin, have the same function? You need to figure out why and make people aware of it.

I agree, you guys need to have something more than just a forum (especially since forums aren't as popular as they used to be). Perhaps try bringing in news, resources, etc.

Thanks for the feedback. I think we're going to scrap the site for now, until we can figure out how to improve it and have more than just forums.

Marketing only works when you market to your target. Each target market is different. If you cater to them directly and make it go socially viral, you will have success.
