I just recently installed xmarks, but want to know is there a way to change when it syncs? It wants to sync each time I close the browser down, can that be changed somewhere? I did not see any option for it.

If you open up the extension's options (Menu -> Addons -> Extensions -> Xmarks -> Options), and go to the "Sync" tab, there should be an option to "Sync on shutdown" that you can uncheck :)

I have unchecked that box before, and it seems to default back checked. :/

Weird. If it keeps happening it might be worth reporting it on their site.

In the meantime, someone has posted a workaround here: https://getsatisfact...ync_on_shutdown

thanks for that workaround! Seeing as the post was over 2 years ago, I would of thought that Xmarks would have addressed the issue by now, I am wondering if it just happens randomly to some people?
