I would have a lot of fun with one of these callers

Had a friend get one of those calls too, man I wish I was there when it received. Just like messing around with Telemarketers, these guys are much easier to mess with. Haha, would've been a easy cheap laugh.

I would end up making them hang up in frustration, if I was in the right mood I could probably make the call last a good few hours acting dumb and telling them the software they ask me to install was running and have them frustrated as to why they could not remote in

If I was not in the right mood, I`d probably reply "My IP? Ok, what is my IP address"

I am getting calls from total sec. solutions and also home sec. one and they keep calling a lot....

so each time they call i say i'm a different fruit or veggie and hang up...

once I paced back and forth and said "I'M A POTATO!" "I'M A POTATO!" "I'M A POTATO!" "I'M A POTATO!" "I'M A POTATO!" "I'M A POTATO!" "I'M A POTATO!" "I'M A POTATO!" "I'M A POTATO!" "I'M A POTATO!" "I'M A POTATO!" "I'M A POTATO!" "I'M A POTATO!" untill they hung up!!!

I've recorded a 2 minute long answering machine message on the house phone with the "On hold" music and someone occasionally saying "Your telemarketing BS is very important to us, please hold"

I actually got one of these calls about 2 weeks ago. I was in a particularly good mood so I let them go on and on about how my Windows PC and my IP address was sending out viruses, and they could remotely log in and fix it, blah blah blah.

So I played along for awhile and pretended to be concerned, and asked what should I do.

They started telling me I needed to provide my credit card information, and some information about my computer, etc., so I finally had enough and said...

"I am now really, really concerned, as you are telling me something is wrong with my Windows computer, but all I own is an Apple Computer. I am on OS X Tiger or some kind of dangerous animal I am pretty sure. So something must really be wrong if it is now saying it is a Windows computer!!. So please tell me what should I do now?"

There was about 5-7 seconds of silence, I could hear papers rustling in the background, then I just heard "and a good day to you sir" and they hung up.

So yeah, play along, and then say you have a Mac. Should confuse them enough to leave you alone for good. At least it did for me.

My nan had a similar phone call a few weeks ago. She was told her computer was sending out spam email and that she needed to pay these people to sort it out.

I think she's aware that these types of scams exist but at the same time I reckon she could be led astray if someone is very convincing.

Only problem for them is that she doesn't even have a computer, let alone internet access.

    • I did think about a Echo show once and it would be useful to see what my cameras see. But my brother got one and I changed my mind. Adverts and not really worth the price just to see my cameras. I have a load of dots and a Echo Gen 4, they will do.
    • I asking where you are from or live, because if you don't live in the U.K, why are you so bothered? That is another reason I voted out, E.U and people poking their noses in where they should not be. Sadly we still have it, Trump, and his cronies. Putin as well and no doubt others. It makes no difference what we believe, if we made the right choice or not, we are out. As I said to someone when the news first broke we have voted out, we just need to make the best of it. I have no problems with closer ties to the E.U, we still need to trade. Just don't want to be in their club.
    • So you think I voted out because i am anti-immigrant. I am fed up with those that come over and think that we owe them something. The ones that are at the moment coming over from France where they are already in a safe country because they think and no doubt will get everything chucked at them. While people who were born and bred here get very little. I have nothing against as i have said before those that come here and work. In fact I know full well that our NHS would struggle without them. I do have a problem with those that come over here and try to push their religion and their way of life onto us. My reasons for voting out was because of what the E.U is and is also becoming. I did not agree with Freedom of movement, not because I don't want people over here, but because people need to be checked before being allowed to cross borders and that goes both ways. But my main thing was because the E.U is becoming if not already a united states of Europe. The only reason countries like Poland and Romania joined was because they had no money. When my partner left Poland, she had nothing, Poland had nothing, that is why she left. Wanted to learn something and earn a living. The E.U would have us back according to Michel Barnier. https://www.euronews.com/my-eu...ator-barnier-tells-euronews Why are you so scared to say what country you are in?
    • I wonder what that line really meant...
