I am in the process of trying out wordpress. I have my own domain, and MYSQL server setup.
Is there a wordpress installer out there? Or do I have to download from http://wordpress.org/download/ and manually edit the files? I noticed Microsoft has a http://www.microsoft.../web/wordpress/ program for windows. Is this a more simple approach at setting up wordpress?

Who are you hosting with? Most hosts have it set up so yuo can run a script from their site for the popular CMS programs.I know JustHost and GoDaddy have Wordpress.
