Why Firefox just stop for a long time on Version 3?

Was there any reason why Firefox stop doing anything at version 3 for years? Did they become Microsoft with IE6?

Firefox was on a much different release cycle back then

they didn't switch to their new faster release cycle till Firefox 4

Last FF 3.6 series version is 3.6.28.
Today Firefox 14.0.1 gonna release, it is in actual FF14 (but it is 14.0.1 to sync with mobile version).

Mozilla decided to increment version number by 1 instead of 0.1.

To be honest because of dumb "Asa Dotzler" (Product Manager of desktop FF) but yes you can say they switch to Chrome release cycle to provide features more faster.

Mozilla changed Firefox release schedule when they decided to turn a perfectly good browser into a pathetic mockery of Google Chrome - or the Lady Gaga browser, as I like to call it.
