My PC has a Core 2 Duo E5300 (I think, not at home so can't double check) it has a stock heat sink on it and lately its noisy as hell.

I've cleaned it up of all dust etc and still makes a noise as it seems to go at top speed and although I know WD40 isn't the best way to re-grease a fan usually this has worked in the past for me but this did nothing noticeable.

I'm also guessing the thermal paste might not be as good as it was when it was first put on around 2 years ago stopping the heat from being transferred as well.

Just thinking might be best to just replace the heat sink with a better quality one as I'm sick of hearing it going when watching films from my PC.

I'd like to spend around £20ish, can someone recommend me a decent heatsink?

I have the 212+ and even with 2x 120mm fans, it's very quiet.

Thanks, I went and bought and installed this yesterday. I'm very impressed for the price as it's silent.

I now keep thinking there is something wrong with my pc as I can't hear that it's on at all!
Amazing how loud the old heatsink/fan was.

edit: Forgot to mention it was amazing how little thermal paste was actually left on the CPU and old heatsink.
