On a personal note: Since Pixelmator was dropped in price to €12 for a limited time only I really couldn't resist the temptation. It's an amazing app with a team who seem to be highly dedicated to improving it. For most people Pixelmater most likely offers more than enough. Beyond that it's fast, has a great interface and it actually makes use of what OS X has to offer. Very much unlike Adobe's apps.

I highly recommend Pixelmator to those who need an image editor with some more advanced features, but for whom Adobe Photoshop is overkill or way too expensive.

I love Pixelmator. I don't need anything powerful, I just want a down to earth app where all the tools are presented right in front of you. For £12 it's difficult to think of anything I've got better value for money out of.

EDIT: turns out I paid £10.49 for it. Even better. I don't know when it was $59 then O_o

I like Pixelmator, but I wish they'd add an option to lighten up the toolbar/floating panels. I find them pretty jarring.

I recommend it too, I bought it when the price dropped, it is a brilliant image editor and its what I call the Paint.NET for OS X, probably better! Love this app!

Email them about it. I did too and posted a comment on their blog. The more people complain about it, the better.

If you'd could also casually bring up the support of multi-touch gestures for trackpads I'd be very grateful. :p

Pixelmator is awesome and I do recommend it. However, it has a few annoyances, which become bigger as you use it :
- The all-black interface
- The lack of Layer Styles (even after so many requests, even after over 3 years !!!!!!)
- Should be a single-window-app or windows should be dockable and same size

I wrote it just about everywhere on their site about the dark interface, they won’t listen. I’m not the only one to complain. Maybe each one of us that finds it hard on the eyes should complain, too ? Hell, even their website is so dark that it doesn’t encourage us to even leave a message.

I think they're reluctant to change the UI as that's what originally sold the software - they built it using solely that element after Apple introduced it in Leopard. I agree it's grating after a while though.

It was fine in Pixelmator 1 though. Maybe slightly too dark, SLIGHTLY. But I loved it.

The black interface doesn't bother me, but maybe they could add a couple extra shades for the UI like what you get in CS6.
